I completed the University of Hawaiʻi’s President’s Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) this spring. The 2025 to 2026 cohort had 24 participants and represented every campus in the UH System.

Teams in the cohort took on real problems facing the university, everything from student transitions to faculty searches to teaching in the age of AI. My team designed an AI-supported nursing pathway meant to help students find their way through their academic journey. President Hensel singled it out in her remarks on the final presentations, which was a nice thing to hear after a year of work on it.
