I joined the roundtable on AI and the Legal System for Insights on PBS Hawaiʻi, hosted by Yunji de Nies, alongside Judge John Tanaki of the First Circuit Court, Ken Lawson of the William S. Richardson School of Law, and former Hawaiʻi State Bar Association president Jesse Souki.

We talked about how far AI can be trusted inside the legal system, where it puts fairness at risk, where it genuinely helps, what to make of attorneys filing briefs with AI-fabricated case citations, and what responsible use by lawyers and judges should look like in practice.

It was a good conversation, and a useful one to be part of. Each of us came at the questions from a different angle, and the answers were, I hope, better for it.
